Infidelity and its morality

Infidelity and its moralityInfidelity and its morality is an article based on a study carried out in 40 countries around the world to find out the behavior of people in the face of such a controversial issue as infidelity. In some countries it is considered totally immoral; but in others this is not taken into account and extramarital affairs are considered fine.

Seek new experiences, satisfy the sexual appetite, feel wanted. There are many reasons why men and women fall into temptation and are unfaithful to their partners. But, despite being the order of the day, infidelity continues to be a taboo subject. It is a matter of questionable morality. But to what extent is this true? The Pew Research Center conducted a study in 40 countries that reveals that for many, infidelity has nothing to do with moral issues.

The most conservative on this issue are Palestine and Turkey. 94% of respondents consider that extramarital affairs are morally inadmissible. France, on the other side of the scale, has only 47% of respondents who consider it immoral to have an ‘affair’; 40% who think it has nothing to do with morality; and 12% consider it morally acceptable. Spain is in second place in relation to infidelity and morality. 27% put aside moral issues when it comes to being unfaithful, ahead of countries like Germany (with 26%) or Italy (with 16%).

Both men and women, when it comes to cheating on their partners, do not consider whether it is a good or bad action and their motives go in very different ways. AshleyMadison.com, the extramarital dating website, has conducted a related study among more than 11,814 women and 10,953 men registered on the portal. The results reveal that 38% of married women admit that they have affairs to feel desired again; while 21% do it to cover the lack of conjugal sex. In the case of men, satisfying sexual desire is the first reason that leads them to be unfaithful (44%); while others are looking for lovers to get out of the daily routine and live new experiences (18%) or for revenge (10%).
